Antiques and Works of Art

Providing peace of mind in case your prized possessions are lost, stolen or damaged.

Antiques and works of art may be passed down from generation to generation.

Whether your collection includes furniture, paintings, china, books, clocks, wine and spirits, sculpture or other antiques or works of art, your pieces have history and possess a sense of heritage, and a value well beyond what you paid for them. That is why it is so important to protect them from loss.

With GrovesJohnWestrup Private Clients Antiques and Works of Art cover, you can rest assured knowing that no matter where your antiques and works of art are located – in your home or anywhere else in the world – they are protected. You will also benefit from these additional cover highlights:

Extended Replacement Cover
If it costs more to replace or repair your antiques or works of art than what you have specified in your schedule, we will pay up to 200% of the sum insured or up to a maximum of £2,000,000 for each specified item.
Generous Limits
With a generous single article limit of £100,000 for antiques and works of art, we provide you with flexibility and peace of mind that in the event of a loss you are covered adequately.
Choice of Settlement
If your antiques or works of art are damaged you will have the opportunity to decide whether you would like to have them repaired, replaced or take a cash settlement instead.
Choice of Repairers
You may have a special repairer that you have used in the past to restore a piece of antique furniture, clock or sculpture. One that you trust to do what is right for you. If one of your antiques or works of art needs repairing, you are welcome to use the repairer of your choosing or alternatively we would be happy to help assist in choosing one for you.
New Acquisitions
We automatically cover antiques or works of art you have just purchased or been given for 90 days and for up to 25% of the antiques or works of art sum insured, so you don’t have to worry about getting cover for them immediately.

It is not uncommon for a water leak to damage more than walls and flooring. If a tap in your upstairs bathroom develops a leak and the water cascades down the wall into your living room below, damaging valuable artwork, you will not have to worry. The GrovesJohnWestrup Private Clients claims team will help find an art conservator who could restore your painting back to its pre-loss condition.

What else may be covered?

Besides the cover highlights described above, the following additional covers would also be included as part of GrovesJohnWestrup Private Clients Antiques and Works of Art cover:
  • Temporary cover for antiques and works for art that have been loaned to you or borrowed by you.
  • Defective title cover
  • Death of artist cover
