High Net Worth Property insurance

    Whether your private clients have a house full of antique furniture, a collection of wine or fine art, or employ domestic staff to help run their household, we can cover their individual needs with a range of property insurance options. GrovesJohnWestrup Private Clients can offer the following elements of cover:

    Buildings Insurance

    We are now using homes for more activites than ever before, so it is important to cover against losses that can interfere with daily personal lives. We can cover damage to insured buildings and fixtures, including driveways, patios, fences, swimming pools, tennis courts, underground utilities and more. Buildings Insurance provides the following:
    If it costs more to rebuild an insured property than the limit stated in the insurance policy, we will pay the difference, providing the policyholder has had a survey conducted within the last 3 years. (Grade 1 and Grade A properties are covered up to 125% of the buildings sum insured).
    For peace of mind in the event of a claim such as fire or flood in an insured property which becomes uninhabitable, we will pay unlimited costs for similar accommodation elsewhere for the policyholder including their family and domestic pets. 
    If we are notified of renovation or updating works to an insured property, in the event of an insured loss, we will pay up to GBP200,000 to cover those works in progress, including building materials or supplies on site which belong to you or you are legally responsible for if they are damaged or ruined.
    We will pay the costs to find the source of a problem following damage from a water, oil, gas, or petroleum leak within the boundaries of your home; and rectify the position once the source is found. Please note, wear and tear is not included.
    In order to prevent repeat losses following an insured water leak in an insured property, we will pay up to GBP25,000 or 10% of the current repair costs, whichever is less.
    Following a physical criminal assault or aggravated burglary in an insured property, we will pay up to GBP25,000 to upgrade alarm and security systems. Domestic disputes are excluded. 

    Besides the cover highlights described above, the following is also included:

    Garden restoration

    Costs you have to pay to restore your garden following loss or damage by fire, lightning, explosion, earthquake, aircraft and other flying devices, storm, theft or attempted theft, or damage caused by people acting maliciously or caused by the emergency services. We will also pay for their removal if necessary. Up to a maximum of GBP5,000 for each individual plant, tree or shrub and up to a maximum of 10% of the buildings sum insured in any one period of insurance.

    Counselling fees if the policyholder is physically criminally assaulted (excluding domestic incidents) in their insured property

    Up to GBP50,000 during the period of insurance for professional counselling fees following you being subject to a physical assault at your home.

    Essential  alterations

    Up to GBP150,000 during the period of insurance towards essential alterations to the home if you sustain a permanent physical injury as a direct result of a sudden, identified, unexpected and unforeseen accident.

    Lost income from solar panels or wind turbines

    Following loss or damage to the solar panels attached to your home or wind turbines at your premises, we will pay you for the loss of income which would have been payable to you from your energy supplier had the loss or damage not occurred up to a maximum of 60 days in any one period of insurance.

    Environmental upgrades

    If, following a claim, you decide to install a solar, wind or geothermal power generating system to your home, we will pay towards the cost of installing this system.

    The most we will pay during the period of insurance is GBP25,000 or 10% of the insured cost of repairs to the damaged property, whichever is the lesser. Subject to a covered loss being greater than GBP15,000.

    Fly tipping

    Up to GBP50,000 during the period of insurance to cover the reasonable and necessary costs incurred by you in removing rubbish and waste material which has been deposited on land at your premises without your permission.

    Contents Insurance

    Contents may be in the home, a car, a suitcase, hotel room or anywhere else in the world. With our “all risks” contents cover, we can replace damaged or lost contents on a new for old basis, with no depreciation for wear and tear. Contents Insurance provides the following:
    Following an insured loss, we provide extended replacement cover for up to 150% of the insured value if it costs more to replace damaged or lost contents than declared sums insured.
    If e-bike or e-scooters are damaged or lost anywhere in the world, we’ll pay to replace them up to a maximum of GBP10,000, subject to us being provided with a crime reference number. 
    Following a physical criminal assault in an insured property, we will pay up to GBP25,000 to upgrade alarm and security systems.
    If domestic pets chew, scratch, tear or foul on belongings, we’ll pay up to GBP10,000 for repair or replacement during any period of insurance.
    We provide automatic cover new items purchased or gifted for up-to 90 days at 25% of the contents sum insured.

    Besides the cover highlights described above, the following is also included:

     

    • Increased costs of home office business due to covered damage or loss

    Your increased cost of carrying on your home office business directly and solely caused by the following:

    • Loss or damage to your buildings or home office equipment which is covered under this insurance; or accidental failure in the supply of gas, water, electricity or telephone service to your home for more than 72 consecutive hours during the period of insurance.

    • Cover will start from the date on which the loss or damage happens or the service interruption starts. It will continue until you are able to start work at your home again but for no longer than 12 months.

    • The amount we pay will be the extra necessary and reasonable costs you have to pay to continue your home office business, less any savings which result from the reduced costs and expenses during the time your work is interrupted.

    • Up to a maximum of GBP50,000 in any one period of insurance

    • Contents of guests or domestic employees

    Up to the contents sum insured for personal property of guests and domestic employees whilst it is on the premises of any property listed on your schedule.

    Contents of family in residential care

    Up to the contents sum insured for loss or damage to household goods, clothing and personal property belonging to your parents or grandparents occurring in the nursing or care home where they reside. Limited to GBP10,000 for any one claim.

    Contents in storage

    Up to 10% of your contents sum insured for contents kept in a commercial storage unit.

    Home upgrades to prevent water damage

    If we have agreed your claim for loss or damage caused by escape of water or flood, we will contribute towards the cost of improvements intended to lessen or prevent a future occurrence of the same type.

    The most we will pay during the period of insurance is GBP20,000 or 10% of the insured cost of repairs to the damaged property, whichever is the lesser.

    Valuables Insurance

    We can cover valuables such as gold or silver jewellery, fine watches or rare gemstones on a policyholders person, in their home or anywhere else in the world. Valuables Insurance provides the following:
    If it costs more to replace or repair valuables than the limit stated in the policy, we will pay up to 200% of the sum insured value or up to a maximum of GBP2,000,000 for each specified item.
    With a generous single article limit of GBP50,000 for valuables, we provide policyholders with the flexibility and peace of mind that in the event of a loss they are adequately insured.
    If valuables are damaged policyholders will have the opportunity to decide whether they would like to have them repaired, replaced or accept a cash settlement.
    Policyholders may have a preferred jeweller that they have used in the past. Therefore, if valuables need repairing following an insured loss, policyholders are free to use the repairer of their choosing (subject to prior quote approval) or alternatively we can assist in choosing one for them.
    We provide automatic cover new valuables purchased or gifted for up-to 90 days at 25% of the contents sum insured.

    Besides the cover highlights described above, the following is also included:

     

    • Temporary removal of valuables from a bank or safety deposit box (up to GBP100,000 for up to 30 days in any one period of insurance).

    •  Temporary cover for valuables that have been loaned to or borrowed by the policyholder for up to 7 days following the start of the loan and up to 25% of your total specified sum insured for valuables or GBP50,000 whichever is the lesser amount.

    Antiques and Works of Art Insurance

    Whether collections include furniture, paintings, china, books, clocks, wine and spirits, sculptures or other antiques or works of art, we can cover them at the policyholders home or anywhere else in the world. Antiques and Works of Art Insurance provides the following:
    If it costs more to replace or repair antiques or works of art that have been specified in the insurance schedule, we will pay up to 200% of the sum insured or up to a maximum of GBP2,000,000 for each specified item.
    We provide policyholders with flexibility and peace of mind that in the event of a loss for antiques and works of art with a generous single article limit of GBP100,000.
    If your antiques or works of art are damaged policyholders have the opportunity to decide whether they would like to have them repaired, replaced or take a cash settlement instead.
    Policyholders may have a special repairer that they have used in the past they trust to restore a piece of antique furniture, clock or sculpture. Therefore, if antiques or works of art needs repairing following an insured loss, policyholders are welcome to use the repairer of their choosing (subject to prior quote approval) or alternatively we are happy to help assist in choosing one for them.
    We provide automatic cover antiques or works of art purchased or gifted for up-to 90 days at 25% of the contents sum insured.

    Besides the cover highlights described above, the following is also included:

     

    • Temporary cover for antiques and works of art that have been loaned to or borrowed by the policyholder for up to 7 days following the start of the loan and up to 25% of your total specified sum insured for antiques and works of art, or GBP100,000 whichever is the lesser amount.

    • Defective title cover up to a maximum of GBP250,000 in any one period of insurance.

    • Death of artist cover up to a maximum of GBP100,000 in any one period of insurance.

    Legal Liability to the Public

    We can protect in case a member of the public has an accident or is injured or their property is damaged and the policyholder is found liable, held responsible for a situation &/or sued for damages. Legal Liability to the Public Insurance provides the following:
    It does not matter where policyholders are in the world, we protect them for up to GBP10,000,000 of liability cover.

    Besides the cover highlights described above, the following is also included:

     

    • Unrecovered court awards up to GBP5,000,000 for any one event.

    • Defective premises for any amount you become legally liable to pay under Section 3 of the Defective Premises Act 1972 or Article 5 of the Defective Premises (Northern Ireland) Order 1975 in connection with any home previously owned and occupied by you.

    Accidents to Domestic Employees

    Domestic employees consisting of gardeners, cleaners, nannies, personal assistants and security staff for example. Accidents to Domestic Employees Insurance protects those policyholders employ in a private capacity worldwide against a personal accident or injury as a result of undertaking their duties and we will pay for employees costs and expenses to aid their recovery in returning to work.

    Legal Expenses

    Following a dispute with a stranger, neighbour, or domestic employee, we will consider the provision of funds to cover the reasonable costs and expenses of legal representation up to the limit stated on the policy.

    Legal Expenses Insurance can provide protection for cases such as:

    If a policyholder needs to settle a dispute with an employer, employee or ex-employee, we will pay for those costs and expenses.
    We will pay to help settle disputes arising from an agreement entered into in order to buy or hire in goods or services, sell goods, rent a primary home or buy or sell primary or secondary home.
    We will cover costs in a civil dispute if a policyholders primary or secondary home or personal possessions are damaged or someone else uses them unlawfully.

    Besides the cover highlights described above, the following is also included:

     

    • Personal injury

    • Clinical negligence

    • Salary or wages if a policyholder is called to jury service  

    • Legal defence if a policyholder is prosecuted in criminal or civil court 

    • Identity theft protection and resolution.

    Home Emergency

    Home Emergency Insurance provides 24-hour assistance and costs up to GBP2,500 (including VAT)  for each insured event at the policyholders insured location when they face an emergency or major issue, needing immediate assistance for situations such as:

     

    • Roof damage that affects or will affect the inside of a policyholders home

    • Damage to, blockage, breakage or leaking of, plumbing and drainage systems

    • Heating or power supply failures

    • Damage to or mechanical failure of toilet unit   

    • Vermin infestation that makes at least one room of an insured property uninhabitable.

    Home Cyber

    We can protect against the impact of cyberattacks, fraud and ransomware, accidently transmitting a virus to someone else’s computer, as well responsibilities of information held by policyholders on other people, such as the personal details of employees, photos and other data held on phones or other devices.

    Home Cyber Insurance provides cover for the following three main areas, subject to a limit of GBP100,000:

    We will repair or replace anything that is connected to a policyholder’s WiFi at an insured location, and we will assign experts to retrieve any data lost.
    We will cover financial loss resulting from social engineering, phishing or hacking.

    We will cover costs if a policyholder is responsible for:

    • Exposing someone else’s personal data, photos or information

    • Transmitting a computer virus to someone else

    • Defamation or saying something that is untrue or derogatory about someone else online 

    Travel

    We can provide cover to policyholders up to the age of 75 should the unexpected happen. Travel insurance provides the following:
    We will cover costs of up to GBP10 million if a policyholder needs medical attention, surgery or treatment by a qualified medical practitioner, hospital, nursing home, or ambulance. This includes dental expenses for emergency pain relief.
    We will pay costs of up to GBP12,500 per person per trip, if an original planned trip needs to be cancelled or rearranged due to a death, injury or illness affecting a policyholder, a family member or travel companion.
    If a policyholder is on a winter sports holiday and your ski equipment is lost, damaged or stolen we will pay up to GBP100 per day for a maximum of 14 days for the cost of hiring replacement equipment; if a ski package or pass can’t be used due to illness or injury we will pay up to GBP500 per week for a maximum of 4 weeks for the cost of reimbursement of costs paid. If an original ski resort destination is closed we will pay up to GBP100 per day for 30 days for travel expenses to get to an alternative new skiing resort. 

    Besides the cover highlights described above, the following is also included:

     

    • Emergency travel expenses up to GBP10,000,000 for each insured event arising from injury or illness suffered during any one journey.

    • Repatriation expenses within 12 months of the insured person becoming ill or injured.

    • Temporary replacement items if baggage is lost for eight hours or more up to GBP1,000 towards the cost of hiring or buying replacement items.

    • Hospital in-patient benefits up to GBP100 per day up to a maximum of 365 days. 

    • Alternative travel arrangements if planned transportation is missed up to GBP2,500 for reasonable travel and accommodation expenses paid to continue or complete the journey.
